The overarching goal for the Minister of Transport is to ensure that Canada’s transportation system supports our ambitious economic growth and job creation agenda.

The Government of Canada is currently seeking applications from diverse and talented Canadians from across the country who are interested in the following position:

Director (Federal Representative – Part-time)

Toronto Port Authority

The Toronto Port Authority, one of Canada's largest major inland ports, is situated on the northwest shore of Lake Ontario. For over 100 years, the Toronto Port Authority has been connecting Toronto to every continent. The Port provides a seamless network of cost-effective intermodal links to road, rail and air transportation, serving as a unique and crucial piece of economic infrastructure.

In an average year, over two million tonnes of cargo pass through Toronto’s Port. In addition to moving cargo, the Port also welcomes cruise ships and passengers from around the globe through the Cruise Ship Terminal. It continues to be a vital connection to the world, not only boosting tourism and trade, but also helping to lower Toronto’s carbon footprint.

The Board of Directors comprises representatives from the federal, provincial and municipal governments, as well as user groups, and is broadly responsible for setting the strategic direction for and overseeing the conduct and operations of the Port Authority. The Board of Directors appoints the Port Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, monitors management’s performance and ensures internal controls are in place to manage risks associated with the Port Authority’s business and ensures protection of the Port Authority’s finances and accuracy of financial reporting.
