Director (Federal Representative), Nanaimo Port Authority,

Appointment Opportunity

We know that our country is stronger — and our government more effective — when decision-makers reflect Canada’s diversity. The Government of Canada has implemented an appointment process that is transparent and merit-based, strives for gender parity, and ensures that Indigenous peoples and minority groups are properly represented in positions of leadership. We continue to search for Canadians who reflect the values that we all embrace: inclusion, honesty, fiscal prudence, and generosity of spirit. Together, we will build a government as diverse as Canada.

The overarching goal of the Minister of Transport is to ensure that Canada’s transportation system supports our ambitious economic growth and job creation agenda.

The Government of Canada is currently seeking applications from diverse and talented Canadians from across the country who are interested in the following:

The directors of a port authority shall have generally acknowledged and accepted stature within the transportation industry or the business community and relevant knowledge and extensive experience related to the management of a business, to the operation of a port or to maritime trade.

The board of directors appoints the port authority’s chief executive officer, monitors management’s performance, ensures internal controls are in place to manage risks associated with the port authority’s business, and oversees the port authority’s finances and accuracy of financial reporting.

Further details about the organization and its activities can be found on the Nanaimo Port Authority website.
