Directors, Sustainable Development Technology Canada,

Appointment Opportunities

We know that our country is stronger — and our government more effective — when decision-makers reflect Canada’s diversity. The Government of Canada will use an appointment process that is transparent and merit-based, strives for gender parity, and ensures that Indigenous peoples and minority groups are properly represented in positions of leadership. We will continue to search for Canadians who reflect the values that we all embrace: inclusion, honesty, fiscal prudence, and generosity of spirit. Together, we will build a government as diverse as Canada.

The overarching goal of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development is to help Canadian businesses grow, innovate and export so that they can create good quality jobs and wealth for Canadians.

The Government of Canada is currently seeking applications from diverse and talented Canadians from across the country who are interested in one of the following positions:

Directors (part-time positions)

Sustainable Development Technology Canada

Sustainable Development Technology Canada is a not-for-profit foundation that finances and supports the development and demonstration of clean technologies that provide solutions to issues of climate change, clean air, water quality and soil, and that deliver economic, environmental and health benefits to Canadians. Sustainable Development Technology Canada operates two funds aimed at the development and demonstration of innovative technological solutions. The SD Tech FundTM supports projects that address climate change, air quality, clean water and clean soil. The NextGen Biofuels FundTM supports the establishment of first-of-kind large demonstration-scale facilities for the production of next-generation renewable fuels.

Sustainable Development Technology Canada is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors. Seven of these members are appointed by the Government of Canada and the remaining eight by the Members of Sustainable Development Technology Canada. The Board has overall responsibility for strategic direction, oversight of fund management and financial accountability of the Foundation. Key areas, such as strategic planning, applicant funding decisions, risk control strategies, budget approval, integrity of the organization's internal control and management information systems, defining key performance indicators, CEO’s primary objective performance and approval of Officer appointments, are directed by the Board. All Directors must sit on at least one of the four Board committees (Audit and Grant Investment, Corporate Governance, Human Resources, or Project Review). However, almost half of the Directors sit on two committees.

Further details about the organization and its activities can be found on the Sustainable Development Technology Canada's website.
